M\u2019Goun Summit Trek \u2013 7 Days<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Experience one of Morocco\u2019s most spectacular mountain treks, taking you from the beautiful A\u00eft Bougmez \u201cHappy Valley\u201d to the summit of M\u2019Goun at 4,071 metres and deep into the dramatic M\u2019Goun Gorges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over seven days, you\u2019ll cross remote valleys, high mountain plateaus and traditional Amazigh villages, while experiencing the landscapes and culture of the Central High Atlas. The adventure combines challenging mountain days with peaceful camps, local encounters and unforgettable scenery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight is the ascent of M\u2019Goun, followed by a spectacular descent through the Oulilimt and M\u2019Goun valleys before entering the famous M\u2019Goun Gorges, where parts of the trail follow the river through the canyon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We depart from Marrakech at 8:00 AM and drive towards Azilal, following a scenic mountain road over the Tizi N\u2019Tirghist Pass before reaching the beautiful A\u00eft Bougmez Valley, known as the \u201cHappy Valley.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our trek begins by crossing the agricultural fields, where we can observe local villagers going about their daily activities. We then follow the small Arous Valley towards the shepherds\u2019 summer pastures at Ikkis n\u2019Arous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drive takes approximately 5 hours, followed by around 2.5 hours of walking. We gain approximately 500 metres in elevation before reaching our campsite, where we spend the night in tents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We begin the day with a steady ascent towards the Tarkedit Pass at 3,400 metres. Along the way, we will stop to enjoy spectacular views of the M\u2019Goun mountain range and the summit of Mount M\u2019Goun, rising to 4,068 metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After crossing the pass, we descend approximately 500 metres to reach the vast Tarkedit Plateau, an area traditionally used by nomadic communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a full mountain day, with around 5.5 hours of walking, including a 1,050-metre ascent followed by a 500-metre descent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. We set off early and continue climbing towards the ridge before reaching the summit of Mount M\u2019Goun at 4,071 metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the summit, we enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the Central Atlas, with the M\u2019Goun massif and distant valleys stretching towards the Draa and Dad\u00e8s regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After enjoying the summit, we begin a long descent through impressive mountain landscapes towards our campsite at the Oulilimt Springs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We continue through the beautiful Oulilimt Valley, an area traditionally visited by the A\u00eft Atta nomadic communities who move seasonally from the Valley of Roses and the Saghro Mountains with their livestock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We follow the spectacular river valley downstream, tracing the course of the river that eventually becomes the M\u2019Goun River. After around 4.5 hours of walking, we reach Aflafel Spring, where we set up camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we follow a trail alongside the river as we descend through the M\u2019Goun Valley. Along the way, we pass through traditional Amazigh villages surrounded by fields of corn and wheat, as well as apple and walnut trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stop near the village of Taghreft, in the heart of this beautiful valley, for a freshly prepared lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch, we continue walking for around 1.5 hours before reaching our campsite near Imi N\u2019Irkt, whose name means \u201cthe gateway to the gorge\u201d in Tamazight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we enter the spectacular M\u2019Goun Gorges. The trail takes us through the river, with several sections requiring us to walk directly through the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the gorge narrows, the river becomes an integral part of the route. The water can be cold and refreshing, particularly during the summer months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We take a break for a traditional hot tea and lunch near the Ifasfas Spring before continuing through the gorge towards Aguerzegua, where we spend the night in tents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast, we take a short local transfer of approximately 10 km to reach the main paved road, where our vehicle will be waiting for the journey back to Marrakech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the way, we stop in the town of Kelaa M\u2019Gouna, famous throughout Morocco for its roses and the annual Rose Festival, traditionally held in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We continue our journey towards Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks the end of our M\u2019Goun trekking adventure and our
